At Warmley, on the outskirts of Bristol, William Champion was the first person in Europe to smelt zinc, an important ingredient with copper in the production of brass. Around his works he build a garden and we will see the remains of this including the grotto, the summerhouse and a giant statue of Neptune. The grounds also contain what is probably the largest ice house in the country. We will have a guided tour.
